About a year ago, I had a subscription service which I cancelled. Last week, I got an email from them saying ' Your Caviar account email has changed'. I emailed them and they ended up freezing my account (even though I had cancelled my subscription, it was apparently still there). I can see the email address they were trying to switch it to- same first name, but different last name.
Then today, I got a text from Uber saying 'Your Uber Code: *4 digit numer*. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.' The number this came from is not one I recognize (begins with 201), but I can see that I received the same text twice last year around Christmas, and it's possible that I tried to log in to Uber at that time and this was the way to verify it was me?
Not sure what the best next steps are, but I use a similar password for most things. Obviously, it seems I need to change my passwords for everything, but has anyone else experienced something like this?
*Edit: Went to Uber and tried logging in. It requires my phone number, and when I put it in, it texted me the verification code from the same number. So someone was definitely trying to log in to my Uber account.
