Hi r/simpleliving

Why don’t we ever talk about minimalism in a non-physical way? Specifically, minimalistic learning. Have you ever felt overwhelmed while learning new stuff? We minimalists often declutter our surroundings, but not our mind. And I’m here to advocate the opposite.

Before growing into an autodidact (self-learner), I found myself overwhelmed with information and requirements when deciding to learn. So, I explored the history of best learners and came upon a well proven concept called mental models. Mental models helped me realize that learning how to learn was more important than the actual content. And the key was simplicity.

I convinced some friends of mine and designed an internal web tool to help us visualize and embed mental models into our learning process. It worked wonders for adopting new skills and school. The passion project spread quickly until we got bombarded with more than 500 private requests to turn it into a real thing.

So how does it work?
