Used items listed as "like-new" down to "good" on Amazon are often things people open up, decide won't work, and send back. I've bought maybe 50 used things and only one was not in perfect condition. And used items can be returned if they aren't in good enough condition for you.
If I'm not in a hurry, I'll put a price alert on a few things that will fit what I'm trying to buy, i.e. a cookware set, and just wait for a good deal on a used one.
My best purchase so far? A $300+ convection toaster oven/dehydrator/air fryer for $160
