So after 10 years of retail I've come to the conclusion the line of work I'm in is not for me. I've worked at a grocery store, a clothing store, a department store and a retro video game store (thinking working with what I love would be better). I'm sick of bending over for customers and managers. Managers are hit and miss but customers are the absolute worst sometimes. I saw an ad for a 3rd shift baker at Panera Bread and it got me thinking. Being a cook or a baker would be a new experience for me and seems a lot less centered around customer interaction and might fit my interests.
The ad I saw sparked my interest and after some research it seems like a lot of bakers work 3rd shift. Weirdly enough that fits around my schedule better and I also have to deal with 0 customers. Being a cook seems kind of cool but hectic and stressful so I think I'd rather lean towards baking somewhere. Have any of you worked as either a baker or a cook, and what was its pros and cons? If you worked retail as well, how did it compare?
