Hello all,I am renovating my in-laws' basement bathroom and I need your help. They asked me to remove a 40+ year old fiberglass shower surround and install a new plastic shower pan and tile the shower walls. I removed the surround without issue including the shower drain without too much difficulty. The original drain was made of brass and generally looked like a typical no-caulk shower drain but it was very corroded so I'm not 100% sure this is correct.I am not trying to locate a new shower drain for the new shower pan but I cannot find one that fits the existing drain pipe. The drain pipe appears to be 2" cast iron pipe. The actual outer diameter measures a hair over 2-1/4". The "pro" at HomeDepot assured me that a standard no-caulk shower drain for PVC or ABS will fit so I purchased a new one. Of course it did not fit. I did some research and discovered ABS and PVC pipe measure closer to 2-3/8". The rubber sealing gasket of the no-caulk drain doesn't come close to sealing to the cast iron pipe no matter what I do.The cast iron pipe was cast in the concrete floor of the basement. I would very much like to avoid chiseling out the concrete to replace the cast iron with ABS or PVC. Is anybody aware of any shower drain that could fit on this cast iron pipe? Thanks in advance! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2CFNMX7
