I’m from West Africa and just moved to Canada. Life is a lot simpler back home. Waaaay simpler. Anyone got any tips on how I can adapt. I’m a female 28 years old, married.

As an example of how simpler things are back home, we have our everyday clothes tailored (there are no stores to buy clothes from) . So usually a woman will own anywhere from 7 to 9 outfits and 2 special occasion outfits until she outgrows them, then gives them to someone else and have another one made. Or perhaps someone gifts her a new one, so she would give one of her old ones away. The outfits literally last for a lifetime and if you gain weight or loose weight, you can just alter it.

Here in Canada I’m so overwhelmed with all the fashion stores and how cheap the quality of the fabric is. I don’t want to buy something that will be useless in couple of years . I tried to get something custom made, the price they gave me was so crazy I didn’t even know what to say. If you need more example of the difference I can provide more. Any tips on how I can adjust ? If I’m posting in the wrong subreddit let me know .
