We recently moved from Florida to Tennessee and about 2 weeks before we moved my husband got t-boned (no serious injury thank goodness). The other driver was 100% at fault and provided an insurance card at the time of the accident. We had to pay our $1000 deductible which we were okay with because her insurance should have paid our insurance back which would have resulted in us getting reimbursed the full deductible. Earlier this week we found out she was not covered by any insurance at the time of the accident. We also found out the car she was driving was a “company car” but she owns the company. Since she had no insurance, we will not be getting reimbursed. I did some research on the woman that hit him and the company she owns is a huge recycling company and she recently purchased a very pricey 70 acre estate. Would it be inappropriate to reach out to her personally to request reimbursement? Should we get an attorney to write up a request for the money? Small claims court? I know $1000 may not seem like a lot to some people but it completely rocked our world and put us in a very tight spot that we are still trying desperately to recover from. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
