I read this page almost every day so I figured this would be a great place to start. My fiancé and I are eloping in a few short weeks - we are both 25 years old and want to settle down and buy a home. We have found a perfect, new build in our area (Columbia, SC) and it's actually eligible for a USDA loan which means zero down. Right now we are paying about $1100/mo for rent, which includes everything minus the power bill so it's really not terrible. We just want to get start a family within the next 2 years so this house would be an amazing start.
Only down side to this is that our current lease doesn't end until October, so I'm not sure if it's too early to start looking for a home or not for when that ends? Like I said, neither of us have owned a home before so I'm really unsure of how long the pre-approval process and closing and all that takes. Any tips and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
