So I've been working on a monthly budget for when I move and with my new job with higher pay.
I'm 29, I'll be making 32 an hour and after taxes my take home pay will be roughly $3,300 a month. I'm single so I will be living alone. So here's the breakdown, tell me what you think and if I am overestimating some things or what not.
Rent: $1,300 a month (this is the average for a 1 bedroom in my area) Groceries: $350 Electricity: $150 Water and sewer: $50 Cable and internet: $100 Car payment: $300 Car insurance: $150 Gas each month: $100 Cell phone: $70 Health insurance: $120 Union dues: $40 401k (at 6% of pretax pay per paycheck): $265 Savings account: $200
This comes out to $3,195 a month. Since my take home is $3,300 a month, this leaves me with $105 extra to do whatever with.
Also, I currently do not have a car payment, but I just added that in anyways because I figured that I will need a new car eventually when my current one gets too old and $300 seems to be about what the average car payment is.
So what do you think? Does this breakdown seem accurate?
