I am trying to save some money and be more frugal. I work full time. My boyfriend works part time. I just came into an extra 1000 which I really don't want to spend at all. However, despite my best intentions, we are broke and I don't get paid for 4 more days. I have a couple things to eat here, which I know my boyfriend will complain about, but are very cheap, like macaroni and cheese which could probably make it through until I got paid. I was planning to wait until I got paid and buy a crockpot so that I can make easier cheaper meals at home because honestly I stand up all day long and walk A LOT at work and by the end of the day I just do not want to stand up anymore, usually. So cooking sucks, but I can do it...we usually just eat out though because my boyfriend doesn't cook either and doesn't seem to really like eating in or home made stuff. And it's very expensive. Like 70 dollars a week on food. Insane.
I know I can avoid arguments and mopey boyfriend if I buy a crockpot now and go grocery shopping for meals to make, but I just really don't want to spend the money right now. Logically I know I could replace it when I got paid, but I fear that won't happen because sometimes it seems like my boyfriend is diametrically opposed to having any money left over at the end of the week. Also, my current housing is very poor and the entire kitchen is sinking into the ground so I really want to move and save this money for moving. But he doesn't seem motivated toward that either and I hate arguing with him.
So I really don't want to spend the money on a crockpot right now, even though it's only like 30 dollars and groceries to make some meals probably around 50 dollars because I'm afraid it won't get replaced. I'm also kind of afraid because I'm worried my boyfriend will still just want to eat out and make me feel dumb for buying it. I want to get a big crockpot to freeze meals and meal prep, but when we were looking at them, he said that it's only me and him, so we just need a little one. When I mentioned that I wanted to meal prep and freeze, he got the most disgusted look on his face. I am not sure what to do.
Is it just a waste of money to buy a crockpot right now? Should I wait until I get paid and not dip into my meager savings?
