I have a lot of decking at my house, a large deck around the pool, a covered porch in front, a screen-in porch in back, and another smaller deck next to it. For years, the previous home-owner used a linseed oil based product to seal it, and did so about every two years. We did this last year, and it took a long time, cost more money that I expected (to get the linseed oil based product), and the wood is already looking like it needs another application. So I'm guessing we either used the wrong product or did something wrong when we applied it. We like the weathered color, but want the wood to last and not get so dried-out looking. The pool deckDo I need to keep using a linseed-oil based product, or would it be alright to switch to something less expensive? If we power wash the deck, will we mess up the weathered look? Any advice would be appreciated. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2JJqswt
