Hi!
After a few years of a pet project in personal finance (some revenue, a lot of feedback and bugs/issues, >7k registered users) I am working on a very simplified form of the personal finance application.
It is way easier to use than existing apps and really helps to save the desired amount of money without complex budgeting, categories and manual tracking (if you ever tried to do it you know what I mean)
So, the uniqueness of this app is it's simplicity and focus on the future instead of past analysis.
The idea is: Spendable = Planned income - Planned payments - Planned savings
And this simple strategy is enough to adhere to the plan.
You have no need in categories, budgets, complex charts and etc.
In fact, the main pain with existing apps is budgeting for categories and after that trying to adhere to those budgets. And the reason is: We do not live and think in terms of categories and budgets, we just want to understand if this expensive game for PS4 is affordable this month.
We need only a clear understanding of how much we can spend at the moment.
There will be a sync with the bank in order to have as small amount of manual interaction as possible, but of course, there, also, will be a convenient option to enter cash.
Here you can check out the demo of an app: https://new.finkee.org/
We aim the German market and we see international students as our first users (we will provide 1 year of free trial for students of course, because we also were the students recently and it's not quite a rich state for a person to be :) )
From our current understanding, international students have pretty well-defined budgets and regular payments in place.
Right now I am trying to understand:
- Will people entrust an app to sync with their bank account in order to easily understand their spendable and plan for the future?
- Will they pay for such an app after 30 days trial and how much?
Looking forward or any kind of feedback
- Ideas/thoughts regarding the overall concept and idea
- How do you find the design of the web page and an app itself?
- What are your own experiences with personal finance and budgeting?
- If you are or were an international student how was your relationship with money going during the studying?
Huge thanks in advance for your responses!
