Howdy. Sorry if formatting sucks, on mobile.
Recently I finally applied for a chase sapphire reserve card after almost 6 years of just using my good ol CU credit card.
Ive been traveling international a lot and figured Id hop onto the "best" travel card I could and just stick with that one until I finish grad school. I also have a few large purchases I need to do that I wanted to leverage into the signup bonus.
My credit score is "excellent" but I was worried either my income or shallow credit history would work against me, so I was relieved that the dreaded letter in the mail only asked that I send in proof of age/address.
So I did, waited, and got notice that I was denied because the paperwork wasn't readable. Figured it was a bad fax. So I sent in another very clear scan fax, but was hit with the same thing.
As a last resort, I called recon and they let me mail in a physical scan of my drivers licence/passport to verify age/addy.
Just got notice of a denial saying that what I submitted didn't provide the right information.
Confused, I called and they told me that the paperwork was received but didn't provide the needed information, and that what I was actually missing is "confidential" via bank policy and that they couldn't tell me what I was missing.
Is this common? I'm wondering if this same thing will happen should I apply for other cards and am unsure of how to fix something if I don't even really know the cause
Edit: formatting/words
