I Blacksmith as a hobby. I wear my Danner Workman 16003 boots, which I love and wear all the time. I had the misfortune of stepping on a piece of hot coal and melting a fairly sizable hole in the sole.
Resoling these is going to run around $130. And I can't be sure I won't step on another piece of hot something the day I get them back. That isn't really financially sustainable.
So I ask for the sage advice of /r/bifl Should I buy a different pair of BIFL boots? Are there any boots with soles that won't melt?
Or should I buy cheap boots, knowing I will likely destroy their soles?
