At first, the water in the metal bottle (food grade stainless steel IIRC) would develop a strange bitter taste after only an hour inside the sealed bottle.
So I thought, OK, maybe its bacteria build up or something. I tried pouring boiling water into the bottle and letting it cool down...boiling water kills bacteria right?
But it didnt work. Water in the bottle would still quickly develop a strange taste. So I tried some hand soap...I rinsed the bottle out extremely throughly after this, at least 5 times. Water then developed a slightly soapy taste which made me feel naseous.
Tried baking soda + water. Tried white vinegar + water. Tried letting the bottle air dry overnight. Nothing worked. When first filled up with water, the water tastes OK...after less than an hour in the bottle, it develops a strange taste.
The last thing I used was a mixture of vinegar + water. Let it soak for a few hours, rinsed it out several times and air dried overnight. Just tested it and the water developed a sour, vinegar like taste within an hour that made feel naseous.
I have another metal bottle, and water in that one works perfectly fine. No idea whats wrong with this one. A 1L water bottle would cost me quite a bit to replace, so im hoping to fix whatever is wrong with it. Any ideas?
