Uninsured, in our 30s.
Took fiance to Dr for a physical as we're thinking about having kids.
I was called up to the front desk by my fiance to pay before she went in. Was told it would be $100, I paid and she signed some forms and went in. I asked about the form, woman behind the desk said it said the $100 was a deposit in case anything extra needed to be done.
After the exam, nothing extra was required, got an email today they're billing us for $340. I'm at work so I haven't dealt with them yet, fiance called and they said they forgot to apply discounts and we only owe $140, but we have to pay today or it goes up to $200 more we have to pay.
This seems very predatory. It's a very highly rated women's clinic in my area. How should I handle this when I call them after work?

Edit: also might be worth pointing out I signed no forms. Fiance is not on my bank account.
