Long time lurker first time poster. I've seen quite a few posts about credit debt consolidation on this sub and I could use some advice.
I currently have 7000 dollars in credit debt divided into the following cards:
Card 1: 992.00 out of 1000
Card 2: 2942 out of 3000
Card 3: 1182 out of 1200
Card 4: 1432 out of 1500
Card 5: 350 out of 500
I currently receive 1689 every two weeks (or about 3378 every month). 50% of my paycheck goes to my rent. I pay the minimum on my cards, but it seems like it the credit card debt is endless. Which is why I'm currently considering credit debt consolidation.
On the plus side, I am getting a small raise starting next week which should increase my monthly payments. However, I am also planning on moving out of the country this year (marriage visa - no work). My idea is to consolidate my debt and save like a mad man so I can afford the fiancee and marriage visa process.
Is receiving credit debt consolidation a good idea? What should I be searching for? I see the consensus is go through a bank. I live in a metropolitan area with a chase bank not too far away. Do they offer credit debt consolidation services?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
