At home, we started a year long budget challenge. Only every other month are we allowed to eat out, grab take out, etc.. (January = Eat Out, February = No Eat Out, etc.)
April is our No Eat Out month and damn, it's hard in the beginning of every month. Especially when after work, when we pass a local hot spot with specials advertised, right on our way home, smelling those delicious smells. It would always derail us.
New trick? If we *really* want to eat out on a No Eat Out month, we have to go all the way home, and then decide. If we still want to, we go back out.
To date, as soon as our lazy asses get home, we do NOT want to turn around and head out. That homemade dinner starts sounding hella delicious and budget friendly, and the effort to go back out seems...monumental. (Since we never order delivery and don't really care for it, I guess we're lucky in the sense that it never seems appealing.)
Just thought I'd share the tip!
