So I know that I can get more value for my money overseas, but, I'd like to stay in the US for various reasons. I'm thinking somewhere in the south as I don't want to have to deal with harsh winters (probably not Florida as they have sandy soil and I'd like to do some gardening). Nearish a military base is ideal for any medical needs (will be covered by the VA). Has to have reasonable internet (not dial-up). Can't be a food desert (or actual as I'd prefer it not be super hot during the summer). Does anybody have any suggestions? I know I can make the budget work a lot of places, but as it's where I plan on settling down to retire I'd like to do my research now and keep planning rather than have to make a last minute decision. I'm not to fussy as I've live all over the US and world.
