I work as an admin assistant for a construction company. When I started working there he paid me 12/ hour and promised to raise me to 15/ hour. However that never happened.... Then the company fell on hard times and he dropped me to 8.50 an hour. Then about October of last year without discussion he stopped direc deposits with tax reductions and just started paying me handwritten checks. Didn't realize that he pretty much stopped paying any overtime. Once again no discussion. January rolls around and he brings me a subcontractor form to sign. I signed it he was saying he just needed me to sign it for taxes and I'm fairly new to taxes so I go ahead and do it. Thankfully he gave me a w2 but I also got a 1099 misc. He still treats us like employees though. Did he do anything wrong or am I just needlessly being uneasy?
