Back in 2016, I bought a Tacoma pickup. I like it a great deal. It drives great, has had zero issues, looks great and is great for hauling things. On the flipside, it's a pain in the ass to park, only gets 24 MPG on the highway and cost me $30,000. I bought it because, in that stage of my life, I needed a pickup truck to haul things since I lived in a rural area. I am selling my house and moving soon, so that is no longer the case. The chance of me moving back out in the boonies is zero. Was great as a child, but having to drive hours on end to get to the stores I need to got old very fast.
I traded in my 2013 Subaru Impreza for it. It had a lot of weird electrical problems and had a tendency to drag due to it sitting absurdly low to the ground. However, it did get 34 MPG and was AWD, making it pretty useful. I will never have children (childfree) and having a family car seemed like a waste. I only used my back seats twice the whole time I owned the vehicle.
I am debating on what to do at this point. I still owe $17,000 on it and don't really want to take the heavy loss from trading it in. At the same time, I am in a different phase of my life now. I am becoming more of a minimalist and having a truck is kind of the opposite to that. A friend of mine suggested I keep it and drive it for a good decade more since Tacomas tend to be very reliable and last a while.
Thoughts?
