So a quick overview of my situation.
I was in a rough spot about a year back and a friend offered to put this car in his name, and give me direct access to the payments. I was also added onto his insurance policy as a driver and pay for my half of that monthly/directly and on time.
Last Tuesday I was in an accident that destroyed the entire front end (no injuries, other driver was able to drive off) while I was on my way to a drop off for my work. I am a medical courier.
Geico is dragging their feet, saying they need to review my claim to ensure I am not leaving them liable for anything. Its been a little over a week, they said I may have another week to wait for a determination in whether or not they will cover my accident.
So in the meantime, I have no use of my insurance (full coverage 100k-300k, rentals, etc), 9.5k in debt I need to try to get transferred into my name to release my friend from the liability to his credit, and no income to work with until I get another vehicle.
I live in NH. My credit is a low 578. I have about 4k in savings I can work with. What are my best options? I don't even know where to start, or even if I should start now or just wait for Geico to determine my coverage.
