After graduating from college my wife and I set a plan in place to accomplish our financial goals. We have saved up quite a bit of cash and have attacked our debt very aggressively. From my perspective, the financial stability we have been striving for since we left college is quickly coming up on us and after having that goal for so long it almost feels weird that we are going to accomplish it.

The last two things I would like to do are pay off our current home, turn it into a rental and then move into a bigger more family friendly house using the rental income to help pay for the next mortgage.

Has anyone run into the issue of accomplishing their financial goals and then gotten stuck wondering what to do next? Is there anything else I should be considering financially or do I just keep keeping on?

  • 32 married with a young kid and not sure what to do next financially (if anything).
  • Annually net around 112k between the two of us.
  • Have 2 cars. Both newer (3 years old) with low mileage. One is paid off and the other will be paid off in the next year.
  • Currently, have 256k in retirement. We put 15% of our paychecks towards retirement and our companies match 10% for a total of 25%.
  • We owe $160k on our mortgage (starter home) but the market shot up right after we bought and the home is now appraised at around $240k. We have 12 years left on a 15 year mortgage at 3.5%.
  • My student loans are paid off and my spouse is on Loan forgiveness with 5 years remaining.
  • We put $200 a month in an education fund for our child.
  • Pay off our credit cards every month and save up for big purchases.
