Hello!First time posting in DIY and first time using Imgur. Hopefully all the relevant info is available. So long story short, I thought I would simply spackle some holes in the bathroom wall (which had previously been painted white), sand those spots smooth, and paint the walls green for a nice, simple DIY project. I've spackled and painted bedroom walls many times before without issue, but I've now run into a problem. Photos of problem here: https://imgur.com/a/UfmJADmThe problem is that after painting, I can pull up small patches of the new green paint off the wall in areas where I used large patches of spackle putty. I'm assuming my mistake wasn't cleaning off the walls well enough between sanding the spackle and painting over it. The dust on the wall from sanding touch-up areas prevented the paint from properly adhering to the wall.In one area I've been able to pull off paint in patches the size of a mailing envelope more or less. This area is kind of unique in that there were multiple patches in that area, and the dust fell down the wall and I must have forgotten to wipe that area down all together. In all other problem areas the paint has just been pulled off in small slivers, which I've been teasing off with a pair of tweezers. So my question to you all: To fix this do I just sand out the edges where the new green paint and the old white wall color underneath meet? (Photos document areas where I have done this). Would 200 or 400 grit sandpaper be fine enough?I'm afraid that if I don't fix it up correctly paint will bubble up down the line. But I am scared to keep trying to pull paint off the wall. At what point am I creating the problem?Hope this makes sense! via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2RiN4E9
