So I’m down to very little after paying tuition and had to stretch money between paying tuition and this upcoming Wednesday (pay day!). I know you all have read all the advice, but it works. I’ve had tons of friends get in this situation and bail on plans because of money, but then go and spend on fast food and premade frozen foods. If you just get a little creative with what you have in your pantry already, you can still have tasty meals while waiting for the next pay day to arrive and be able to spend time with your friends if it requires a little money (more than likely for food and booze).

I had half a box of pasta in my pantry but no sauce, so I made some. Little bit of olive oil and flour to make a roux and then added to cheese and watered it down since I don’t drink milk. Added seasonings and had a delicious make-shift fettuccine. This morning I was starving so I shredded half a potato for some hash browns and had leftover onion and cheese in the fridge so I made myself a tasty but simple breakfast. So now I have half a potato I can use with canned tuna I bought a while back for lunch later on. Waiting on buying groceries but getting creative w spices has allowed me to have probably better tasting food than if I ate out or bought premade food anyway.

The roundabout reason for posting this is that being frugal in some aspects had allowed me to go out and enjoy time with my friends guilt free. Prioritizing spending on shared meals instead of my own has made it easy to wait out til Wednesday and still be full without losing quality. If you find yourself in this situation, just get a little creative with what you have even when it looks like you have “nothing” in your pantry.

Happy savings!
