I had a hell of a time getting my tub to come clean after a summer of my 5 year attending day camp. With the sunscreen and bug spray and grime that she came home with after a full day of camp my tub seemed to always have a gross, greasy dirt ring around it - no matter what I sprayed it down with, and I spent more time scrubbing it off than I did getting her clean at the end of every day.
I found a great recipe that actually works though - 1 cup of blue Dawn dishwashing soap in a dollar store spray bottle topped off with white vinegar, agitated gently to combine and then sprayed on, scrubbed down (minimal elbow grease required) and then rinsed off - everything is sparkling white and silver in the tub again, and no water spots left after it dried!
It made me wonder what other tried and true home-made cleaning products people use - I know vinegar and newspaper work well on windows, and sprinkling a little baking soda before you vacuum will pull out more dirt and pet hair than a regular hoover alone, plus leave the house smelling nice and fresh - does anyone have any other tips and concoctions that will save me both time cleaning and money on otherwise useless chemical solutions?
