This is one of our most difficult budget categories. So far in January, we've spent $750 at the grocery store and honestly, this is one of the least expensive months we've had. Almost always $1k +. We try meal planning, but we honestly don't even fluctuate that much in what we eat. We have young twins that aren't the most adventurous, so we tend to stick within a range of different foods.

Does anyone analyze their grocery spending at the micro level? I started a separate YNAB budget to attempt to categorize grocery spending, but that doesn't really encapsulate, true value, just costs. Are there any tools or apps that you might use to track not just price paid, but cost per quantity, quantity purchased, etc. Is this even valuable information?

Edit: We live in south eastern PA. Most shopping is done at Wegmans. Family of four.
