Hi! As someone with chronic illness and paid by the hour (full time but not salaried), when I miss work due to symptoms (that I can’t predict the occurrence of), I miss money.. recently I missed a lot of work especially with the few days we had off for thanksgiving (I work at a school). In order to make up for the fact that next paycheck I will be getting maybe 100$ instead of my normal amount, I was thinking I could open a credit card. I understand the risks of not paying back a credit card but I would be able to pay it off within two to three weeks of any spending because I’ll have a more normal looking paycheck by then.
This is a preferred method to me than asking family for a loan of a hundred or two for groceries and student loans as with a credit card I won’t face any sort of judgement except in the form of interest should I miss a payment. Also, this would be my first credit card. I add that my credit is pretty good, because I’ve been paying interest on my student loans while in college and have no official missed payments on my record.
Any advice on whether or not this is a good idea? And if it is a good idea, what credit card companies might you recommend?
