This is more of a warning, but as part of an annual physical, the dr may include a standard Vitamin D test.
Your insurance will likely NOT cover this, unless you have a dire condition. Me and my spouse didn't know this and got hit with $300 bills from the lab, since the dr automatically included them and insurance doesn't cover it for us.
Hopefully this'll help someone else avoid the same fees we did!
Edit: we are in the US and this happened with Cigna and BCBS. Note that the test was done with a bunch of other tests, so it's not like the Dr asked specifically about it, and they don't really know what the insurance will and won't cover.
