Hello, I [18M] took this year off before going to college next September. I've recently found a relatively well paying job which gives me 45 hours/week. A detail I might add is that I don't pay rent since I still live with my parents so I don't need the job per say.
After reading a lot of self improvement resources (mainly r/Stoicism and r/simpleliving), I've come to the realization that working and making money is not everything life is about. I still have time after work to do stuff but I'm usually so tired I end up watching YouTube and going to bed (my new job is very physical work). I do have options, there's plenty of jobs available where I live. For example I could find another part time job ~16 hours/week and use my free time more advisedly. I also have a unique opportunity of working with my father this summer. He's a fisherman and it'd be a ~2 months job. This would allow me to still have some money for college. With my free time I could read a lot more on self help, do volunteering, read books, have time to hit the gym, etc. I don't want/intend to use my free time to game 10 hours/day for example.
I guess what I'm saying here is that I'm thinking of using my time to better my self instead of making money. To be clear I don't plan on quitting tomorrow, my therapist suggested me to do 1-2 months before taking any decisions which I will definitely do. What do you guys think?
