Hey DIYers,I am in the process of replacing an old 8x8 deck and have discovered something...well...odd. When I took down the old deck I discovered the previous ledger board was simply nailed into the foundation wall, and the outside boards of the deck frame were resting inside holes cut directly into the foundation of the house. The house was built in the 70s so I'm sure codes were different then, but this 100% does not seem right to me. First question is how should I mount a new ledger board for this new deck, or should I skip that and opt to build a free standing deck? The foundation seems to be hollow, almost like cinder blocks. Second, what should I do to go about patching these holes?https://ift.tt/2PbhX12 via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2RBSOcr
