I am redecorating a room and have bought new handles (passage & dummy) for the doors. The passage handles come as a basic set, including mortice latch.Unfortunately, the mortice latch is too short for the backset. I have tried using the existing latch with the new handles but the spindle from the new handles does not fit through the hole and the spindle from the old set is attached to one of the knobs.Any idea what option I might have missed here?
