We both live in Missouri. I have a restraining order against him so we are living separately, but we are not "legally separated". Divorce has not been finalized yet and won't be until next year. We were married for 8 years, no kids, vehicles are each our own from before marriage, home is rented. Joint account only has a few hundred in it due to my husband spending our savings on a lavish vacation after I left him (I hadn't thought to take the money because I didn't think he'd do something like that - huge mistake obviously).
My questions to you all are these: he has no job, has terrible credit, and is looking to make my life hell. He has copies of my social security card, drivers license, W2s, etc from the past 5 years. I have a credit freeze in place, but he has the answers to all my security questions should he decide to call in and claim to have lost my security pin. I think you see where im going with this. All his credit card debt is in my name only - ive already come to terms with getting stuck paying it all. But how can i possibly protect myself from getting screwed even more when he has all my info and can probably take out loans, etc in my name?
Background: He lost his job this year (again) and started hitting me during fights at home, admitted to cheating on me several times, and threatened to kill me if i left him. Needless to say, I got out of there asap and had a full restraining order granted. Filed for divorce but it won't be finalized for several months.
