I received letters from Debt Collector Hunter Warfield stating I owe $3500 to replace all the carpet in a townhouse I lived in for a bit over 3 years. My lease has the standard damages must be payed and a $250 carpet cleaning fee must be paid.
The carpet wasn’t that bad with the exception of the living room (12X12). The landlord told me I wasn’t paying the $250 cleaning fee because she was having the all of the carpet replaced in the entire town house (even the carpet in 2 upstairs rooms I hardly ever went in. I took video of me walking through the house during my move out inspection.
I’ve read through the wiki about validation the debt and the debt collector only sends me an invoice from the carpet replacement and my lease.
What are my options? I don’t know if I’m responsible for whole carpet replacement or how to get depreciation calculated into the cost?
