Long story short.

I am a foreigner and was travelling in Colorado. I had mountain sickness and passed out, so my bf called the ambulance.

Now I'm back in Asia and got the email of the ambulance bill.

It is about $1700, including the ALS and mileage fee. And the email says if I don't make payment before the end of this month, they will send it to a collection agency and it may affect my credit.

Although I don't live in the states and have no SSN, I am afraid it will affect my next entry to the states.

I am a full-time student and my mom is the only income of my family, plus I am not insured... So the bill is a big burden to my family.

Is there any way to lower the price? I tried to call the ambulance company but today is veteran day nobody is picking up the phone.

Any advice?

Thank you in advance!!

p.s. the ambulance company sent me an email regarding financial hardship application. My mom's salary is less than $1000 dollars/month. Would that qualify for that? If so, does anybody know how much discount can I get? Thank you!

Is this the norm or no..?
