My car has not been behaving properly for awhile which I suspected was the transmission due to slipping and hard shifting. I finally wanted to get it fixed so I dropped it off at a mechanic and waited until the next day to see what they said was wrong with it since I did a night drop after they were closed.
I get a call and they said they needed to open up the transmission to see what needed to be fixed and it would cost $1100 to put it back together unless I went with their services. I told them to do it and they charged my credit card even though I didn't sign a receipt or anything.
I get a call later in the day and they say it needs to be completely rebuilt and it will cost $4500 for the transmission and transmission mounts. Now this is a 2009 Mercury Mariner which is only worth about $3,000 but is in otherwise good shape so I told them to fix it since I did not want to pay the $1100 fee for them to do nothing.
That was on Friday and they said it should be done on Monday but now it is Tuesday and I called them and they said it would be tomorrow. So I am still out of a car even though it was supposed to be done in a couple days which is now 6 days.
Do you think I got ripped off and is there anything I could do help my situation or am I stuck with it?
