Here's the wiki link for what a Tengu is for non-D&D nerds.Honestly the rest of the costume was meh because I had time to make the headdress only, so bought the rest of the suit and none of it fit right. This was my first real project that I had the time, and money, to actualize. Luckily I work as a security guard that allows for a TON of down time and made this thing at work spanning over an entire week. It was a little difficult because it was the only place I had the space to work on it, but I had to pre-plan everything I needed to bring with me each day.I started with a 3D model I designed and processed it through Pepakura. Glued the pieces to poster board for stability. I already knew I'd use duct tape for the main surface so I just used that to put the pieces together.Only had one color of tape, so I painted the black part and started attaching feathers individually.I had a whole day of missed progress photos because I hit a time crunch. Realized I had to make some fitting modifications because a Jaw mechanism I planned didn't work. Also decided to build out the eyes after seeing the original plan in person. All the feathers you see (190 of them) I placed by hand with hot glue. Then used hairspray to mat them down and shape them to the head. The lighting in this place was VERY yellow so the beak looks oddly colored. Honestly in person it was a darker grey than it looks in any of these photos. There are more than a dozen hidden vent holes throughout the mask, and it still got fairly stuffy. I've already decided to remake it and get a little fan to hide in the beak for more airflow. Also hearing was terrible even though I had holes placed for that as well. SO MANY NEW IDEAS FOR THE NEXT ONE I MAKE. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2z9Y9Ah
