I live in a one bedroom apartment with my three cats and a dog. The floors are wood laminate so I've gotten by alright with a broom but no matter what there's always some crumbs and pet hair left, it never ends.
My boyfriend has been taking about buying me a vacuum to make my life easier and I was willing to match so we were looking at a budget of about $200. I've been looking around for good deals but I haven't been able to get over the sticker shock. Shitty vacuums are in the $100 range and good ones are way out of budget.
A few days ago I saw an older Dyson on the side of the road so I picked it up. Upon getting it home it wouldn't turn in at all. Googled for half a second and found a bunch of suggestions to replace the plug. I don't have a multimeter nor do I really want to buy one so I forged ahead with replacing the plug without fully testing stuff.
$3.99 and less than 5 minutes of tinkering and I now have a fully functioning vacuum! I'm so excited! I'm not frugal in all regards but damn it feels good to save a ton of money and prevent something from going to a landfill.
