We finished a cedar deck in the Midwest about a month ago. All my research has led me to believe I should wait a year or so for the mill glaze go away before staining, but I also read some sources saying to do it 4-8 weeks after completion. Any advice on when it should be done and why? Any advice on the brand of stain/ seal? What is the effects I would see if I stained it too early or waited too long?
