Im purchasing a condo and would like to see if anyone has any experiences with jacked up title fees. I just got my closing disclosure and the title fees were about 66% higher than expected. I was told titles would cost me about 2200 and it's at 3600. My mortgage broker told me this is unusually high for this and its something the seller chooses. I was floored by the gap of what she told me it would be and what it's coming out to on this paper. I told my realtor and attorney and they said they'll get back to me ASAP, but I close in a few days. I used a few title calculators online and they're all matching my expectation and not what was listed on the disclosure.
Is there anything I can do here? I feel like this is a form of extortion taking much more money than I anticipated when I'm this deep in.
