I'm a dual British and US citizen and just relocated to Raleigh, NC. Lived in England all my adult life. No US credit history, etc.
Got myself a nice rental house, navigated getting bank accounts etc. Now I'm ready to buy a car but the insurance situation is really tough.
I've been driving in England since I was 17. No tickets, no claims on my insurance - the perfect driver!! However, I just got a new NC license and all the major insurance companies want to absolutely shaft me as a consequence - they won't take UK driving history (at all) into consideration.
I've tried Geico, progressive, eerie, state farm and dozens more too. The best quote I got for a VW golf was $405... A MONTH. I think I'd rather walk!
Anyone got any tips?
