Today I got junk mail addressed to my brother, a late 30’s never married, rarely employed, fired from jobs three times in the past year kind of guy. He’s never lived with me, so to me the only way I’m getting junk mail addressed to him is because he’s used my address as his with some company that sells their information to marketers.
I’m a little worried about the thought of that. He’s slightly unstable and has been known to take advantage of family members when it suits him. I’ve all but cut him out of my life, having only seen him on holidays for the past 5 years.
My question is, if he’s used my address as his own, are there any potentially damaging things he could be doing that would impact me or my finances? If so, where do I start in trying to find out what’s going on? My credit monitoring hasn’t shown any changes, which is good.
Before you say talk to him directly, I want to highlight the instability aspect - he constantly lies to the point I think he actually believes himself, he’s belligerent when he thinks he’s being accused of something, and it’s topped off with a holier than thou attitude that would humble the subjects of /r/iamverysmart. If there’s nothing that could possibly damage my family, I’m fine leaving it alone.
Thanks in advance!
