Hi everyone,I'm making a wooden "guestbook" for my wedding, and I could use a bit of help. So far, I've bunt a design into a sheet of birch plywood. The plan is to have everyone sign that so that we can hang it on a wall after the wedding. The idea being that it'll be more a piece of art that we can look at frequently as opposed to an actual book that we might not look at as often. Now that I have the design burnt into the plywood, I'm not completely sure which route to take. Should I coat it was a stain (or something else) now, or after people have signed it? Also, do you have a recommendation for what we should be using for people to sign? These are the concerns I have right now. I'm afraid that if I don't treat the wood now that there will be a lot of bleed as the wood soaks up the ink from a pen/sharpie/paint pen. However, on the other side of things. I'm also worried that if I do treat the wood now, we'll run into issues with the pen/sharpie/paint pen not setting up as well. I'd like to avoid everything getting smeared and looking horrible. The plan would be to use a clear coat of some kind after everyone has signed it, that way it will all be protected. So, my questions are:When should I treat the wood and what should I use to treat it?What should we use to write on the wood?Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2IqYNh9
