My husband and I just got married and I was fully aware of his financial situation beforehand. I would like to know the best option in this scenario.

He is 38 with no debt and 750 credit score, I am 25 with 35k in student loans on PSLF and no other debt and 720 credit score.

Together we make about $81,000 a year before taxes. We take home ~5400 after taxes and health/STD/LTD/life insurances.

Our expenses are about $2500/month.

We have $20,000 in a savings account.

He is not offered a retirement plan with his workplace. I am offered a vanguard account (I really don't know what type) with 3% match.

What is the best way to prepare for retirement for each of us? Ideally if we are married for the rest of his life, we can live on my income alone during the age gap at retirement and that allows a little wiggle room.
