My SO just got a promotion about month ago which pays significantly more than his last position on paper (bartender to manager). Yesterday was supposed to be his first payday. He received a direct deposit of $148 for 100 hours of work. We were expecting around $1500. They shorted him over 90 hours.
His restaurant is corporate, and doesn't even use paper checks for any employee. His store tried contacting upper management to get the issue resolved, but have gotten no response.
What can he do next? I've read that legally they don't have to pay him until his NEXT pay period in 2 weeks.. in which case we will be so, so in deep. We already were barely hanging on as I started a new job as well. I got paid yesterday as well, but it was only for 1 day...
Any advice is appreciated.
