I needed more professional attire for my new job and bought a bunch of stuff from various stores, but had this uneasy feeling about spending so much and also buying new. I returned 2 pairs of shoes, one sweater, one shirt and a skirt and got back over $130 from 3 different stores.
Then I went to the resale clothes shop (Clothes Mentor). I ended up getting 4 dress shirts, a sweater and a pair of pants for the cost of one shirt that I returned to Old Navy for $32! The most expensive single item I purchased was $8.
There was a sale going on and I ended up getting 2 of the shirts and the pants for $7 total!
This experience taught me that the true value of clothing is extremely low- even the name brands. Also, I was able to go to one store and find a lot of clothes that fit my style instead of the 3 stores I went to for the new items I returned.
