I am looking for advice on the Roth IRA that I currently have. I currently have a Roth IRA with American funds Growth and Income (GAIOX) that I fund throughout the year maxing it out at $5500 each year. There is currently +/- $50,000 depending on the day. These are Class A shares, meaning they are front loaded, each time I "buy" into the Roth IRA I pay a portion of the amount to sale charges. However, I am wondering if I'm better off moving this money into a Vanguard or Fidelity target date fund with Class C shares? I am looking to invest the money and leave it until retirement. I also fully fund my 401K at $18,500 each year so I'm using the Roth IRA for the tax benefits. Just wondering if there is a better Roth option than I currently have? I am 36 and married, wife has a 401K as well and Roth IRA that is maxed out each year (same fund).
