Hey DIYers. I’m planning to build a patio cover off the back of my garage. Roughly 10’x13’ over existing concrete pad. Posts at the far corners, held with post base bolted to pad, likely a 4x6 or 4x8 spanning them. Plywood/asphalt shingled roof. Planning to remove the gutter and hang a ledger board to the fascia, lag screwed to the rafter tails. I know bolting to the fascia is frowned upon but the soffit is pretty substantial. The rafter tails are about 4 feet and sit on the outer wall, then are hung on the rafters running the opposite direction. Hoping I can use a bunch of Simpson ties to better secure the rafter tails and fascia to the rest of the garage framing. The garage has a flat roof so I’m concerned about causing damage or securing the cover to anything that shouldn’t/can’t support the load. Does this sound like it would work?
