I have a half moon window in my door that's almost 2 feet wide. I work graveyard shifts so I would like to find a better blackout cover/treatment for that window. It's in a metal door so I can use magnets to make it easily removable. My thought is to use magnets to hold it in place at 3-4 points around the window and then use weather stripping or something similar to cover the gaps between. Currently I'm using some foam board with a couple of magnets held in place with double sided tape but it has started to warp quite badly and never did a really good job of blocking the light. My question is, what kind of material could I use that's relatively easy to cut without special tools that will manage to stay opaque even with direct sun exposure? I've found a couple of coverings that would work but I would prefer to order within Canada or buy locally.Because of the tool limitations, metals are unlikely to fit my needs. Possibly some kinds of plastic or something. Wood would work but it would be quite bulky so I could see it either meeting a huge amount of magnets of it might fall off the door when opening and closing the door.EDIT: This isn't my door but it looks like it may be the exact model I have. Same ridged trip around the window, same lines, and looks to be the same size.https://ift.tt/2OUCXp3 via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2vVA3ri
