I travel a lot for work and end up being away fro months at a time. So I need a pc to game on while I'm away. I decided I was going to make it a challenge to fit a 24" monitor a very capable gaming pc keyboard, mouse, controller, and all the cables, into a carry on size case.Atm I am trying to figure out how to build this carry on case. The exterior dimensions need to be about 22" long 8.5" wide and 14.5 inches tall (so it will meet the airline carry on size regulation) While the interior dimensions need to be about 21.5" long, 7.5" wide, and 14" tall.In order to construct this I will be making a frame out of 1" thick square rods, for structural integrity and to screw my panels to.I am currently debating the materials that I should use in this build. There is a chance that the airline will tell me that the plane is too full and they will have to throw it under the plane. So because of that I have to make it extra sturdy. I am thinking about useing 1/4" polycarbobate panels (because of the impressive impact resistance) for the 14.5" x 8.5" sides and the 8.5" x 22" sides. Now I was going to make the 14.5" x 22" sides about 1/2" thick because they are the biggest sides and I have the most room on those sides so I can put in better protection. I was probably either going to use 1/2" polycarbonate or 1/2" solid oak or something like that.On the inside I will be using punch block foam to get a snug fit for all the parts. And I will use a panel over the monitor screen to ensure it is safe (not sure whether to use polycarbonate or wood)Here is a drawing to help you guys understand what I am talking aboutDo you think this design will be able to keep all the parts safe from damage when being tossed around under the plane if I am forced to put it down there? Please feel free to give me feedback on my design. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2lECbws
